Etterian Battleship Gladio

En route to Etteria

Officer’s Quarters

Year of 2252, June

Oriana awoke from the best dream she had had in ages, maybe ever. A blue-eyed, bronze-skinned, black-haired supreme commander had held her within his protective arms. He had crushed her against his impressive, hard length with a possessiveness she found exhilarating.

She released a contented sigh. This was what she had been seeking when she agreed to travel with Coldar. A chance to find a man worth loving even though she hadn’t realized it at the time. A sense of security still lingered with her.

She tried to move but couldn’t. Something trapped her. The slight snoring opened her eyes in a panic, only to widen with pleasure at the sight of Enyl fast asleep next to her.

True to his honor, he had stayed with her.

He had been a gentleman since he had helped them escape, ensuring she had everything she could need. Coldar had done the same with what they had in the dungeon. No matter how meager their possessions, their food, they had shared everything. Despite wishing it otherwise, it was an Etterian thing and not an Enyl thing. He wasn’t showing her preference but acted as an Etterian male, duty-bound to attend to a female.

Of all the Etterian males she had met so far, she found him the most appealing with his intense eyes and captivating physical presence, but above all, his aura of authority. His braid reaching his heels bolstered her confidence in his abilities, that he could handle things on his own. He had when she had plummeted off the H-lift and during their arena rescue. Hell, he had carried her when it had pained him.

A pang of jealousy skewered her. She shoved it aside with a wince, wishing he didn’t have a Dar Eth. Her thoughts drifted toward a life as a cherished female paired with an honorable Etterian male. She had pondered such a life when she was young and carefree. As a human, she could never have an Eth, nor experience the joys and passion of the Ethera.

That a man could not love her, and only her, made her sad with longing. She remembered when Uncle Gayn had explained the Ethera to her. He had said it wasn’t something a human often experienced. She was eleven years old at that time and had savored the concept of soulmates, regardless of its rarity.

The fact she was here and safe was due to her uncles’s knowledge. She had balked against their teachings, certain she would never need to know how to kill a wilanegy or other alien beasts. Her uncles had guarded her so well. What harm could ever befall her?

A memory flittered from out of the ether of her harnessed grief. It had been Uncle Gayn’s two-hour session, the same one she had with him daily. He expected her to read from her tablet about alien creatures, their strengths and weaknesses. That morning, she had wanted to spend it with Uncle Diso, down in the engine room.
